Common Ant Types in Georgia

Ants can vary in size and shapes depending on the species and their job within the colony. There are different castes within ant colonies such as queens, workers, and males. Queens are generally larger than the rest of the colony and their main purpose is to lay eggs. An ant queen can live up to 10 years or more depending on the species.

They have a complete metamorphosis life cycle of egg, larvae pupa and adult. Workers are sterile females that protect the colony, collect food, feed the larvae and build the nest. Male ants sole purpose is to mate with the queens. Both winged males and queens or alates swarm in in large numbers in early spring to late summer.

Ant Exterminator Services

As with many varieties of insects, ants come in many shapes and sizes. They have different nesting habits as well. It is important to understand which ones are invading your space. We may check for several types, such as Argentine, carpenter, fire, pavement, pharaoh and odorous house ants.

We know their habits and the best method for treating these ant problems. You may experience population problems with other insects in and around your home or business as well. We tailor our services to your property to help eliminate the issue safely and as thoroughly as possible.

Habitat Modification

We rake back leaves and debris from the home 6 inches and trees/shrubs and tree stumps and treat the soil where the ants reside. If other companies aren’t doing this, then they aren’t fully treating the problem. Also, we recommend that bushes or trees be trimmed back 6 inches from the home to prevent a safe harbor for the ants near the home.

The treatment will be more effective this way and the ants will track through the treatment. When the treatment is on top of leaves or debris, just absorbs the material like a sponge, not getting to the subterranean colony of ants.
